Students in grades 9-12 can participate in ARC's referee program where they can ref actual REC games for 3rd-4th boys and girls REC basketball games, and/or manage the score clock during these games. This is a paid opportunity, and will help create opportunities for these children to learn the responsibilities of managing the employment process. Students can also apply to be a youth coach as well.
1: Students must complete the Rutgers Safety Course (http://youthsports.rutgers.edu/educational-courses/volunteer-coaches)
2: Students must complete the Online Concussion course
Students are expected to manage the process of verifying their games, confirming their monthly paychecks and being accountable for picking up their checks from the youth coordinator.
By allowing their participation in this program, parents acknowledge that it is the responsibility of their children to verify the accuracy of the paycheck and to follow the procedures for picking them up. Parent communications to the youth coordinator and/or league commissioner will not be tolerated.
ARC Basketball's Fall Program will start the week of Sept 11th. This weekly program is individually structured, on an informal, week-to-week basis. Come when your schedule permits, or every week if you’d like. The program is geared towards providing instruction for boys/girls in grades K-8, as well as an open-gym opportunity to play pick-up games. This program will support all children, regardless of skill level. Children with little or no experience can attend & learn all of the basic fundamentals of playing. For those children that do have experience, they’ll have an opportunity to work on improving their skills while also being able to play pick-up games with children within their age group/skill level. The goal of this program is to give kids more opportunity to play basketball, while giving them a chance to build confidence & their skill level.
Our Program is fortunate to have two great local coaches to teach and mentor our children.
